Melrose Area Schools participated in the 'Economics Challenge,' held at St. Cloud State University on March 20, 2024. In the Economics Challenge, teams of high school students compete in a series of tests on economic problems, theory, and current events to demonstrate their knowledge and critical-thinking abilities. The team of Max Wehlage, Sawyer Frieler, Amelia Brower and Makayla Zirbes won first place in the competition, and will advance to the State Competition, held in Minneapolis on April 16, 2024.
Winning team members each received a cash prize. Sawyer Frieler won an additional cash prize for having the second-highest individual score. Max Wehlage won an additional cash prize for having the third-highest individual score.
