Melrose Area Schools proudly offers many activities for students to be involved in during their middle and high school years. We are excited to give all students this life changing opportunity. We encourage families to promote their student's involvement. The life long skills learned through team activities are crucial for social development and will help with many aspects of school. Research has shown that team activities boost:
Academic Achievement
Attendance
Development of Time Management
Physical Health
Responsibility
Self-Restraint
Sense of Belonging and Pride
Teamwork Skills
Reminders:
-Dutchmen Activities are educationally based. We have terrific teachers and coaches to help students develop skills beyond a traditional classroom.
-These life-long skills include: teamwork, growth mindset, solid decision making, commitment to goals, dealing with adversity/conflict, and contributing to society in a positive manner.
-Think of our activities as the 8th hour of the school day. A lot of learning takes place!
-Participation is the key. Please do not worry about starting at elementary ages. Some of our best participants began in 7th grade.
-If the cost or fees are an issue (we understand, it can be expensive), please talk with Mr. Ruoff and develop a plan.
-Every member of our team is important. Playing time should not dictate participation. Learning takes place in multiple ways while being part of our activities.
The total number of kids signed up for Spring Sports is trending down. We would like more students to sign up.
