Superintendent Update 4/20/2020

It is hard to believe we are starting our 4th week with the Distance Learning Plan (DLP).  We would ask all parents/guardians to continue to offer positive support to your students. We are showing some great results from the vast majority of students.  There are a few students that we will be reaching out to this week to offer some extra support.

We will be shifting the delivery of our lunch at the end of this week.  Thursday will be the last drop off of meals this week which will be a double lunch and breakfast to cover until Monday (4/27) morning.  Starting next week we will only be delivering lunch/breakfast on Monday and Thursday of each week. This will make it convenient for our staff and also parents/students that pick up the food to have to only pick up food twice a week instead of every day.  The deliveries on Monday and Thursday will cover all of the meals for the week.

Last week we did receive some feedback on lunches that deserves an explanation.  From time to time we will not be offering sandwiches in the lunches to switch things up.  On those days when we donā€™t offer a sandwich the lunches do look light. However, these lunches do meet all federal requirements for lunch.  I know it is easy to compare our lunches on any given day to another school but in comparison, all schools are doing a similar program.

Donā€™t forget to check out some of the very creative videos on our website.  These videos are put together by all of our staff to offer positive messages throughout the course of the DLP when we know it is difficult for students to cope with the loss of interaction with our staff and their peers.

This continues to be a common theme throughout our state as we cope with the ā€œStay at Homeā€ order. We will continue to communicate to our students how important they are to us and how we can support them throughout the DLP.
