We had a successful first week with bringing back our middle and high school students. You will also notice that we continue to keep our number of positivity and quarantine rates very low within our buildings. We know this number will continue to go up and down. We are in a position right now where we have basically plateaued with our numbers. We donāt expect any major outbreaks but at the same time, we donāt expect the numbers to go down until we start to see large-scale vaccinations take place.
The number this past week is 36.41. Currently, projections for next week show this number to increase slightly by next week.
As stated earlier, we have for now plateaued around the upper 30ās to low 40ās. Unfortunately at this point, we are not expecting any large-scale vaccinations. We were notified this morning that a small allotment of vaccines has been reserved for school districts. The current allotment for our district this week is only 5 but it is a start in prioritizing the staff that qualifies under the guidance given to us by the Minnesota Department of Education. At this rate, it will take a long time to vaccinate all of our staff. We are hopeful more vaccines will be available in the future.
The Incident Command Team will continue reviewing the numbers on a weekly basis to determine any future shifts. For now, we will remain in-person/hybrid in grades K-5 and hybrid in grades 6-12.
I also want to remind the district the calendar did change for this year. Friday, January 22 is now the end of the quarter and will be a C-day. Monday, January 25 will be a workshop day, with no school on this day. The updated calendar is on our website.
If you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact me or any of the building principals.
