If you are following the numbers both at the state and county site you will see there was a discrepancy in last weekā€™s number.  We reported the county number which was 36.41.  The number was actually 41.26.  This number was corrected this week in the statewide reporting document. What this means is this weekā€™s number is a smaller increase from the previous number.

The number this past week is 43.04.  Currently, projections for next week show this number to decrease slightly by next week.

I reported last week our small allotment of 5 vaccines for Melrose Area Public Schools.  There is hope this week the allotment will increase.  If this occurs the number of teachers and other staff members will also increase.  This will also create a safer environment for our staff and students as we allow more students into the classroom on a daily basis.

At this time the most effective ways to slow down the virus are the same four recommendations.  Wear a Mask, Social Distancing, Wash your hands with warm soapy water, and stay home when you are sick.  As we continue to open up our buildings to the general public for activities and other community events we would ask you to be even more diligent at this time to follow these four recommendations.  Even after you have received the vaccination you are to still wear a mask. By following these recommendations we can keep our students in school, activities going, and a safe environment for all staff in our district.

The Incident Command Team will continue reviewing the numbers on a weekly basis to determine any future shifts.  For now, we will remain in-person/hybrid in grades K-5 and hybrid in grades 6-12. This may be shifting for the week of February 1-5.

If you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact me or any of the building principals.
