Commencement for the Class of 2021 will occur this Friday at 7PM in the Elementary Gym. All are welcome to attend. The ceremony and parade will also be livestreamed on our school district website. Parents will be saved an area in the gym as in the past. The ceremony is beginning an hour early to accomodate for the parade, which will begin immediately after commencement. Once the Graduates have exited the gym, parents and those that will ride in the parade vehicle with their graduate will exit immediately after and head to their parade vehicles. The remaining audience will be held for a few minutes in order to relieve traffic congestion in order to get the parade off to a smooth start. The parade will begin as soon as possible in order to avoid dusk, as sunset is 8:58PM.
The parade will begin at approximately 8PM, and it will be led by the Melrose Police Department. The parade route is as follows, weather permitting. If the parade needs to be cancelled, the information will be posted on our school district live feed no later than 6:30PM Friday.
Exiting the elementary parking lot, the procession will turn right, heading north on 5th Avenue NE .
Turn left on 9th Street NE, then on Highland Boulevard and Mustang Lane.
Turn left North 1st Avenue NE.
Turn right on West 5th Street NW, heading west down Mollie’s Hill.
Turn left on 3rd Avenue, crossing the Foot Bridge.
Turn left on West Riverside Avenue NW, then making a right quick right on 3rd Avenue NW.
Turn right on Railroad Avenue, then left on 5th Avenue NW. Park View Centra Care will be on your right.
Turn left on Main Street West, heading through downtown.
Turn left by Melrose Fitness on 4th Avenue NE, then left on 1st Street NE to Riverside Avenue NE.
Following on Riverside Avenue, the parade ends at the Montessori School / Riverside Car Wash.
