The 7th Annual Melrose Archery tournament was held yesterday. It was attended by archers from Albany, Alexandria, Brandon-Evansville, Melrose, Osakis, Sauk Centre, and Zimmerman.
Melrose had 34 students attending, with many new archers competing for the first time. Earning medals for Melrose were Sawyer Frieler and Gretta Kasper, both placed first in the High School Division, both with a winning score of 284, AND each of them had a perfect round today (50). Caden VanHavermaet placed 3rd in the Middle School Boys Division, shooting 274. Annika Berschiet took 2nd place in the Middle School Girls Division with a 269. In addition to these medal winners, Bailey VanHavermaet placed 4th in the High School Girls Division with a score of 281, and Abigail Koltes took 4th in the Elementary Girls Division with a 193. There were many more successes and ābest roundsā - it was a great start to the 2022 season.
Thank you to our volunteer coaches - Matt Depute, Laurel Oberg, Chrystal Sand, Mike Sand, and our range official and announcer, Dan Goihl. These awesome people make our Archery program possible and ran a great tournament.
