Hear from our staff and community members about the ADA accessibility needs in our school.
Melrose High School was designed more than 50 years ago, long before accommodations for people with disabilities were required by law. Many areas of the building are not handicap accessible.
ā¢ The only way to access the high school locker rooms and industrial tech classrooms are by staircase.
ā¢ Bathrooms and showers do not have adequate turning radius for wheelchairs, which means there are students who need to travel across the building to the auditorium to use the bathroom.
If bond funding is approved, the high school locker rooms and technical education area will be updated, providing access and appropriate bathrooms for all users, even those with mobility limitations or injuries.
