Congratulations to our Fusion Team on earning a wild card and advancing to the State True Team Swimming and Diving meet next weekend! Our Boys Swimming & Diving Team ended with a second place finish at the Section True Team meet on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026. Congrats to Andrue Stalboerger on a new Melrose and Fusion record in Diving (11 Dives). What a great team accomplishment!

Today, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, is a regular school day at Melrose Area Public Schools.
Dr. King was a prominent and prolific writer and public speaker throughout his life. In Washington DC, there's a Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial. We braved the cold and had our second day of ECFE! We talked about Hot Chocolate this week (perfect timing with this weather). We mixed up some hot chocolate playdoh, painted with marshmallows, and ate a hot chocolate cookie snack.

On January 9th Stearns Electric came to do an Energy Education and Electrical Safety presentation for our 4th graders. Students learned about the types of electricity, the fuels used to generate electricity, the electric distribution system, energy conservation and the potential dangers of electricity.

Fusion Boys Swim & Dive Team had a great meet against Montevideo last night. Fusion won, with a score of 102-84.
Congratulations to Andrue Stalboerger, for setting a new Melrose and Fusion Record in Diving (6 dives) with a score of 300.70!
Great job to all the boys - it was a full team win!

Melrose FFA Chapter attended their Region Contest last week!
*Our Vet Science Team of: Izzy Vogel, Zoey Herkenhoff, Kelli Pundsack & Brooke Goihl took 6th Place of 11 teams competing!
*Our Agronomy/Crops Team of: Elaine Herkenhoff, Elyse Hellermann & Gretta Hellermann took 5th Place of 12 teams competing!
*Gretta Hellermann took 3rd Place individually of the whole contest, advancing her to the State Competition!

Last Tuesday, our Melrose Lady Dutchmen Gymnasts took on the Albany Huskies and shined, posting a 142.0 Varsity score and a 128.6 JV score! Making the night even more special was: the girls from both team asked for a picture together, warming the hearts of all coaches. The Dutchmen and Huskies trained together one day this past summer, and they continue to build friendships that will go beyond the competition floor.

Congratulations to our Dutchmen Knowledge Bowl Teams that competed in Sartell on January 10th. Of the 21 Junior Varsity and 33 Varsity teams, Melrose JV placed second in their division, while Melrose Varsity placed first in their division!
