To all of the athletes who committed their time & efforts in helping better yourself and your teams, I thank you! The summer is a busy, challenging time of the year, and you athletes continued to show up. The definition of discipline is: "The practice of doing what needs to be done even if you do not want to do it." We had over 170 athletes signed up this summer and so many of you demonstrated the discipline needed to become the best version of yourself in which helps your team become the best version of itself!
Thank you to the parents of these athletes for seeing the value in this and continuing to support your sons & daughters in their athletic performance!
Thank you to the coaches who helped throughout the summer! Brandon Welle, Ike Vesel, Kaydance Bertram & Ria Nelson were there every day, and did an incredible job assisting in all the duties that were asked of them.! Thank you to Lindsay Anderson, who stepped in when us football coaches were gone for football camp. Without your help, none of the great things that happened would have been possible.

Melrose Area Activities welcomes all students in grades 7-12 to register for the 2025-26 Fall Season! Due to the parking lot construction, we are not holding a large pre-season Fall Activity Meeting. Resources can be found on our school website, on the Athletics/Activities page. Many activities begin practice on August 11, 2025, which is before the first day of school. Athletes need three things before they can practice: athletic physical, registration forms, and participation fees. If you have any questions, please contact: Activities Director Jonathan Ruoff at 320-256-5160 x 1009 or Activities Assistant Holly Berscheit at 320-256-5160 x 1021. This great family event encourages walkers and runners to participate! The low registration fee of $15 was chosen to make it more affordable for families. Congratulations to the Melrose Legion Softball Team - these ladies took 7th Place at State! Melrose won the sportsmanship award! Kaitlin Klasen won 'Pitcher of the Tournament,' and set a new State Legion record with 41 strikeouts! Parking Lot Update – South Lot Work on Friday, August 1
On Friday, August 1, the south side parking lot will be undergoing tar reclamation
Please continue to enter the parking lot using the entrance near the tennis courts. You will still be able to drive through the area where work is occurring, but please use caution and watch for large machinery as crews will be actively working.
We appreciate your ongoing patience and flexibility as we work to improve our parking areas. Thank you for your continued support throughout this project!

Are you thinking about fall sports? We are! Athletes need to have a current Sports Physical on file to participate in athletics. Sports Physicals are different from well-child exams, but both can be done in one appointment! Sports Physicals are valid for three years, and we encourage kids to get theirs prior to 7th and 10th grade.
