Yesterday, Melrose hosted our annual Melrose Speech Extravaganza meet. It was nothing short of incredible! 40 teams participated, and one even came from Nebraska! We had 426 students and 514 entries, which means some students were double or even triple entered. We utilized practically every single room in our entire K-12 school - very grateful we are located in one building! This meet would not have been nearly as successful if it wasn’t for our FABULOUS parent volunteers, awesome custodians (Marlene rocks!), our supportive AD, our dedicated coaches, the talented captains, our food service workers, and the entire staff of Melrose Area Schools for the use of their classrooms for the day. A special shout out to True North for the wonderful pasta bar for our judges/coaches area! In the end, the Melrose Speech Team was the overall champion out of the 40 schools! This meet marks the end of our scheduled season meets. Next up: Conference meet at West Central on Wednesday, Family Night on Thursday, then Sub Sections on Friday in Morris. Full steam ahead! We are so proud of our team!! Everyone in the 400 hallway was really curious about what smelled so delicious coming from the FACS Lab. Pork chops served on a bed of braised cabbage and apples. We've got some seniors embracing old-style comfort foods.
